    Last Diehard Youth show
The last Diehard Youth show was amazing. Or as Mike Jochum would say: Amaaaaaaaaaaaazing. Good times had by all. Matt is working out great on the drums. We have a lot of shows coming up this month, and in August, so check the shows page.

    Memphis, TN
Indianapolis was a good time. Fun show greeted by complete apathy, but still entertaining. Another amp problem in St Louis, this time with blowing a fuse. Spent this morning taking care of that problem. Ate at Del Taco for the first time in who knows how long. Brought back memories of North Hollywood. Show tonight in Memphis was awesome. Largest amount of cutie pies we've seen nationwide. Show was good for us, Clenched Fist turned it out. Tomorrow is Dallas, we have to wake up at 8am, but we're taking Albert to a strip joint tomorrow night for his first time so thats something worth waking up for.

    Indianapolis. IN
Sitting in a library 15 mins outside of Indianapolis. The show should be good tonight with Strike Anywhere/the Explosion taking care of drawing kids. Last night in Virgina Beach was awesome. Big thanks to Mike Lawson for the hookup. My other guitar head blew up in Baltimore, and it cost $171 to fix yesterday. Nard curse. Baltimore was good times as well outside of that.

    Long Island, NY
Albany bombed even harder than Bath. We did have a crucial sledding session on the drive though. The dudes had a good time moshing it up for Burning Bridges. Vermont was awesome. Walked on a frozen lake. The show was pretty bitchin too. Had no Boston show on Sat so we went to the Terror show in Poughkeepsie....good times. Ringworm was the fuckin shit. Tonight in Long Island was pretty awesome, probably the best show of tour. It was dope to see KYI after 2 years of bad timing. Tomorrow is Joisey. Goodbye.

    Ann Arbor, Colombus, Bath
Sitting in Bath, NY right now...Seinfeld is on the boob tube and we had a glamorous meal of top ramen. The Ypsilanti show was interesting, 12 kids paid. Good to catch up with the Life Set Struggle dudes. Sikander put us up again and it was a good time hanging out. Colombus, Ohio was an awesome show with all the Cleveland kids coming down and having a good time. The bartender was the shit floating free drinks. Albert ran up our tab though by getting fruity mixed drinks and not tipping his bartender. He's a youngun, don't blame him. Sean (who kept getting reminded by Ryan that he plays in a "bar band") put us up in his house and we partied with the Final Plan dudes. Mike Jochum is a f'n maniac. Tonight in Bath was another interesting scene with about 25 kids and no one over the age of 15. It was in the front room of a bowling alley. I bowled a 146...sweet. Tomorrow we go to Albany...should be good times.

    Dekalb, IL 4-6-03
Almost a week in and things are going well. The shows have been remarkably good so far. Vegas and Denver both caught me by surprise and were awesome. Iowa was cool catching up with friends. Minneapolis and Rock Island were insane. Good times hanging out with the Holding On and Modern Life is War dudes who I'm sure we will miss tremendously tomorrow when we part ways. The tour carries on to Ypsilanti, MI tomorrow night and should be good times. Lance had a small case of roadburn in Iowa but has since recovered. Everyone seems to be pulling the race card on Albert, but that hasnt stopped him from trying to get in Sean On's sister's pants.

    3-22-03 @ Ventura Theater w/Death By Stereo
Hadn't played the Ventura Theater since we were supposedly "banned" for Ryan getting naked at the Dr. Know show. Actually I offered him cash to streak across the stage during Death by Stereo to keep the naked streak alive but he wasn't into it. The show was a good time though...We played our tour setlist for the first time and I'm pretty happy with it. Death by Stereo turned it out. Good times. Thanks again to Paul for hooking us up.

    getting ready for tour
Spent a hell of a lot of money in the last couple days. Fixing up the van cost $538, and our insurance was $287. Wouldn't be that big of a deal if we didn't only have $600 in our band fund. We're building a loft in the van this weekend so we can save the money on trailer rentals from here on out. Getting to Iowa is going to be interesting, cuz you can never bank on a payday in Vegas or Denver. We have a handful of shows coming up in the short time before we leave:

3/22/03 @ Ventura Theater in Ventura
w/ Death by Stereo, Avenged Sevenfold

3/27/03 @ Showcase Theater in Corona
w/ The Mistake, Impact, Where Eagles Dare, Stand, Miracle Mile

3/30/03 @ Ojai Womens Club in Ojai
w/the Mistake, Knife Fight, Internal Affairs, Miracle Mile

I set up this live journal to send in updates from the road so I promise itll be more exciting then.

    Nor Cal weekend
Shit happens. If you're IC, it happens a hell of a lot, too. The weekend was no exception. The mighty El Capitan broke a water punk at a gas station about an hour and a half away from Danville, where we were set to play. Spirits stayed high as we tried to not think about it and just played a game of parking lot football along with roadies Albert Moshard and "celebrity" Todd Jones. Finally the towtruck got there, of course the trailer we brought wasnt covered by AAA so it cost $100 to tow to Danville. Bumout. We were still running (sorta) on time...would've gotten there by 9 o'clock. In true Nard fashion though...the fucking towtruck broke down!!! To make a long story short, we got towed to Danville and showed up while the Hoods were setting up. By the time we set up, the show got shutdown. All the money we made that night went to pay Ryan and myself ack for the towing, and to pay the $360 to get the van fixed the next day. Good times, bro.

Actually another side note from the night was we got back to Kyles house up there real late. We decided to go out to eat so we all piled into 2 cars and left...when we were sitting down I was like "wheres Albert?" Everyone looked around but he was nowhere to be found. Ryan thought we left him in Danville. Turns out he took a shower without telling anyone at Kyles house and got ditched.

The next day Ryan had to wake up bright and early to call around to find an auto shop that could fix the van on a Saturday. If we didn't get it fixed we were going to be stranded till Monday. To make a long story short, it got fixed, and we were broke again, but heading to Redding with our old road-dog and companion, EL CAPITAN.

Showed up early. A kid from the opening band went up to Todd and asked for permission to cover Carry On. Ate pizza. It was pretty decent. Allegiance was rockin. There were a fair amount of kids there. Shaping up to be a good show. Damage Done sounded good. Real good bass sound. Did "New Direction." We played and it was pretty awesome for the first half of the set. The Allegiance dudes were all turning it out on the floor along with the infamous Albert Moshard. Then some kid got clobbered...actually let me backpedal a bit.

See before we started playing half the kids were outside talking, hanging out, etc. Most kids come in halfway through the first song, but Ryans a pretty bold dude so he went out front to yell at everyone to get them inside. Theres actually a side door there that you load in through so I told him to head out there too. He said there was no one out there, but on his way back in there was a kid leaving.

"Dude, where are you going? This awesome band is about to play right now...check it out," Ryan said, or something along those lines.

"Really?" the kid replied and followed Ryan back in curiously, then we tore into the first half of our set. Halfway through comes "Omega Point" and that same kid ends up getting knocked in the head, busted open, and layed out on the ground in a pool of his own blood. Bumout. Actually it was a bumout for us too cuz half the crowd left with him to see if he was ok. Fuck it.

Todd and Ryan drove through the night to Bakersfield. Everyone slept in. Watched the Superbowl, it sucked. Went to the show at Jerrys, it sucked. Drove back to North Hollywood, it sucks. Late.

    New Journal
Back for about the first year and a half for In Control I maintained doing show diaries for every single show that we played. Unfortunately, when we got someone new doing our website, he deleted 90% of them on accident. It was really a bumout and it discouraged me from doing future ones. I missed the documentation of everything though, and that brought me to the idea of opening a live journal for the band. From here on out I'll try to stay up to date and do the show reviews on this page. Thats all.
